Due to the conditions in which ATVs are typically ridden, disc wear is quite common especially on rear brake applications. It is quite common to have to replace the rear brake rotors two or three times during the life of an ATV, especially if riding in wet and mud conditions.
EBC Brakes offer two kinds of replacement rotor for the ATV market, a heat treated carbon steel rotor and a lighter weight stainless steel sport disc or rotor as shown above.
The advantage of the sport brake rotor is reduced weight due to its contoured profile and better cleaning due to the scraper slots around the edge of the disc/rotor.
The best pads to use when riding in dirt and mud conditions are the sintered metal variety (see explanations of sintered materials by clicking this link) or in most extreme conditions, the EBC SV series sintered pads. These offer extended long lifetime under tough ATV conditions.
